1. Oncology and Palliative Nursing Care
Founded on the ideals of Dr. George Leslie Mackay, Mackay Medical University is deeply rooted in holistic and compassionate care. The Mackay Hospice and Palliative Care Center is one of Taiwan’s most important training bases for Oncology nursing and palliative care professionals. In clinical practice, healthcare providers frequently face complex decisions related to end-of-life care. Through this course, students develop a clear understanding of cancer care and hospice philosophy, learn symptom management at the end of life, and acquire skills to address the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of terminally ill patients and their families.
2. Introduction to Acute and Critical Nursing Care
This course cultivates students’ interest in acute and critical nursing care, emphasizing critical thinking, interdisciplinary coordination, and teamwork. Students acquire fundamental competencies in assessment, clinical judgment, and intervention for critically ill patients. Toward the end of the course, high-fidelity simulated resuscitation scenarios are integrated with theoretical instruction, allowing students to experience real-time emergency decision-making, and to build confidence and competence in managing acute and critical situations.
